The Harris County Darts Association was originally founded in 1974 and has as its stated purpose "To promote the Sport of Darts". This ADO affiliated Darts Association has a current paid membership of approximately 500 members. League play is held 3 nights weekly, with 4 to 6 persons per team, and a mixed play format of '01 and cricket games. To facilitate fair and fun play for all, the HCDA offers various divisions to accommodate different skill levels. The HCDA also sponsors two major darts tournaments each year, the Bluebonnet Classic and the Houston Open.

League play is held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. Each night plays games of 301 Singles, 501 Doubles, Cricket Singles, Cricket Doubles, and 1 game of either 601, 801, or 1001. A team can be made up of any combination of sexes -- there are no requirements on the number of men or women that must be on the team

The HCDA is proud to have member bars throughout most areas of greater Houston. Currently, Tuesday night offers a Metro League in which a team can play out of any HCDA sanctioned bar, Wednesday night boasts a very strong "Urban" League that keeps the players located inside the 610 loop as well as a Southwest and Southeast League, and Thursday night also offers a Metro as well as a Southeast League and a Katy League. The Southeast League comes no closer to central Houston than Hobby Airport and goes East as far as Pasadena, Kemah, and San Leon.

Membership dues are $35 annually with a $10 Player's Fee per season. Also per season, there is a $60 team registration fee (the sponsoring, or home bar will usually pay this fee if asked to by the team captain). A $15 late fee will be applied if paid at or after the Captain's Meeting. Depending upon the number of teams, a season is either 14 or 15 weeks.
